Tácticas
Heavy Camel Riders are a great counter to enemy cavalry. They perform better in combat than Halberdier, as they deal similar amounts of damage but are much more durable. Additionally, unlike Halberdiers, they can force engagements against enemy cavalry. They also fare well against enemy mounted archers due to their bonus damage, something the Halberdier line is unable to do. Camel units are the second fastest land unit type in the game, only superseded by light cavalry. However, the Spearman line has an additional attack bonus against elephants (about +100%), while also having a lower penalty against camels (-20% for the Spearman line, whereas the Camel Rider line has -50%). As such, the Spearman line is better against non-horse cavalry units. Against mounted archers, the Spearman line is prone to hit-and-run tactics (except by Elite Elephant Archers), and as such Camel Riders should be used against those. However, most of the time, the decision of which unit to use is made by the civilization's technology tree, since most Camel Rider civilizations either do not have Halberdiers (with the Gurjaras and Turks not even having the Pikeman) or their Halberdiers lack key technologies. Since they have very low armor and base attack, they are not effective against anything else than mounted units, so it is wise not to send them against foot archers or infantry. Camel Riders are also ineffective against buildings and take extra damage from defensive structures (especially before The African Kingdoms). They also have a decently expensive cost of , especially when compared to the cheap Halberdier. Compared to its predecessor, the Heavy Camel Rider has +20 hit points, +1 attack, and +8 anti-cavalry bonus damage. The latter in particular makes this upgrade paramount against enemy cavalry, and the inexpensive cost makes it worth picking up before other technologies. === Comparison with the Halberdier === A direct comparison is not useful since the units are too different. As such, this section helps which unit is better against the different unit types. { Enemy unit Infantry Poor Poor Foot archers Poor Poor Monks Susceptible to conversion since expensive Inexpensive, not a priority Siege Decent - fast movement speed, decent attack Poor Horse cavalry Good Good Camel cavalry except Mamelukes Decent Excellent Elephant cavalry and Elephant Archers Poor - not enough to take out even elephants cost effectively Excellent - massive attack bonuses Mounted archers except Elephant Archers and Mamelukes Excellent - can chase them down Poor - get kited to death } === Comparison among civilizations === { Civilization Cost Berbers civilization bonus 20% cheaper Byzantines civilization bonus 25% cheaper Hit points Attack 7+4 7+4 7+4 Attack bonus +18 vs +9 vs +25 vs +13 vs +18 vs +9 vs Armor 0+3/0+4 0+3/0+4 0/0+4 0+3/0+4 Rate of Fire Extras Hindustani team bonus 22px Imperial Camel Rider upgrade Can Auto Scout }
Consejos
- The Heavy Camel Rider is the bane of all cavalry. With +18 bonus damage against Cavalry, Heavy Camels shred Cavaliers and Paladins alike. They also deal +9 bonus damage to other Camels, making them effective in camel mirror matches. Still vulnerable to infantry and archers, but their cavalry-killing power is unmatched. - Halberdiers still deal massive damage to you, and Arbalesters will melt your 0 Pierce armor. Always have archer support or siege to deal with these threats.aoecoach
