Tácticas
Mounted Trebuchets are best treated as an alternative to the Bombard Cannon, being better suited to taking on units rather than buildings, due to being unable to outrange Castles and having poor anti-building bonus damage. Their blast radius, lingering fire damage, and reasonable mobility makes them effective against other siege units, but since they count as heavy siege, they will easily be knocked out if an enemy Bombard Cannon or Onager lands a shot on them, but thanks to a faster movement speed compared to the Bombard Cannon, they are easier to micromanage. They also benefit from cavalry armor technologies, which can make it hard for enemy archers to bring them down, but Mangudai are an exception due to their attack bonus. Unlike most siege units, they are not that vulnerable to melee units with their five melee armor, but units with high damage like Heavy Camel Riders, Halberdiers, and Magyar Huszars due to their attack bonuses, and Paladins and Champion due to their high base attack, can kill them easily. As such, their high melee armor among siege units is most useful against weaker units like Hussars and Karambit Warriors. Mounted Trebuchets do not need Chemistry to be unlocked, thus having a major advantage in the early Imperial Age as a good way to push back attacks from siege weapons from a safe distance. However, since they cost food instead of wood, production will be a bottleneck for players with smaller economies.
Consejos
- Commander, the Mounted Trebuchet is Khitan siege cavalry — not a Trebuchet. It shoots from 10 tiles and cannot fire at all inside 3, and its projectiles leave fire burning on the ground where they land. With 75 HP and 30 attack for 175 food and 175 gold, it is expensive and it does not survive contact. The official help names siege weapons and tight groups as its targets, and anything that reaches close range as its weakness. Fire from the back, move before the answer arrives, and let the lingering fire hold the ground you just shot.aoecoach
- Seventy-five HP for 175 food and 175 gold. Losing one to a raid is losing a Castle-Age army budget.aoecoach
